Why Know My UK Bra Size?

There are several high-end British bra designers, many of which are available in upscale department stores and lingerie boutiques. Brands like Goddess, Fantasie, and Freya are favorites amongst women of all shapes and tastes. Many of these brands are praised for their beautiful design, all-day comfort, and support. The British brands are very good about providing a wide range of sizes, something that US designers still have yet to perfect.

Officially, here is how UK bra sizes work:

UK and US bra sizing is very similar. Both the US and UK use the same number system to describe the band size. So, if you wear a size 36 band size in US sizing, you'll wear a size 36 band size in UK sizing too.

In addition, UK and US bras use a very similar lettering system to describe the cup size. However, once we get into the larger cup sizes, the UK system begins to differ from US sizes. Please see the following chart:

UK/US Bra Cup Size Conversion Chart

US Cup Sizes UK Cup Sizes
AA AA
A A
B B
C C
D D
DD (E) DD
DDD (F) E
G F
H G

However, unofficially, many women report that UK sizes are more "flattering" than US sizes. So, if you wear a 36C in the US, try a 34D in UK sizing. This is strictly anecdotal, however, so we always recommend that you try on a variety of sizes of a particular bra before buying it.

With these tips in-hand, go out and give some of the English bra designs a try. We are sure you'll love the way they look and feel.
